Honey is looked upon with
reverence as healing syrup by the Muslim world. This is because in the Holy
Quran-the book revealed to the Last Prophet Hazrat Mohammad PBUH-the word ‘healing’
has appeared 4 times; 3 times linked to Qur’an[1] and one time linked
to honey[2]. Honey is mentioned in the Bible
61 times and once in the Quran.
In the Surah called ‘Surah Nahl
(Bee)’ the
Almighty Allah says "And thy Lord taught the bee to build its cells
in hills, on trees and in (men's) habitations..... there issues from within
their bodies a drink of varying colours, wherein is healing for mankind. Verily
in this is a Sign for those who give thought.”[3]
The Prophet (PBUH)
said, “Honey is a remedy for every illness and the Qur'an is a remedy for all
illness of the mind, therefore I recommend to you remedies, the Qur'an and honey.”
This miraculous golden syrup
which holds the healing power to prevent and combat umpteen diseases becomes
even more potent when mixed with black seeds which the Holy Prophet PBUH has
said is the seed which holds a cure for any disease except death[4]. The
Holy Prophet (PBUH) himself is said to have taken honey with black seeds (kalonji)
for therapeutic purposes[5].
According to Tib-e-Nabvi, pure honey when mixed with black seeds prevents heart diseases particularly coronary
artery disease. In today’s stressful times, coronary artery disease is a major
health problem plaguing people engrossed in the rat race.
Thus, whether you are a
businessman, housewife or student, starting one’s hectic daily routine with a
spoonful of rich Al Khair honey sprinkled with a few blessed black seeds every
morning is recommended.
